The Chairman's Perspective

One of the things I enjoy most at Duncan Aviation is talking with new employees at orientation; many will shape the future course of Duncan Aviation. I often ask them “Why Duncan Aviation?” They talk about having a career and being in an environment where they can learn and grow. That’s what I wanted in a career path too.

The Company Feels Like Family

I started at Duncan Aviation right out of college in the late 1980s. Now, after a few decades of working in different areas and doing different things, I have gained a sense of value personally. I think that’s what we all look for in a career, good opportunities, great people to work with, excellent training and to be well-supported. People want a future in an organization that gets better and grows as we grow. That’s the kind of environment we’ve created for people at Duncan Aviation.

In fact, I’ve grown up with hundreds of other Duncan Aviation teammates since I started working with the company; I’ve worked right along side most of them. That’s why this company feels so much like family. The family atmosphere is an unspoken part of Duncan Aviation’s core values and will always remain that way.

Staying Focused On What's Important

The core values of Duncan Aviation are something we take very seriously. They are ideals passed down from Donald and Robert Duncan and they are a large part of the reason so many operators trust us and so many people want to build careers here. Some companies get too large and lose sight of what is important. Our focus is still on what’s most important to us: the business aircraft operator and the faith they put in us. That is the operator with one or two aircraft. We remain committed to that operator and will always do right by them even as we grow other opportunities.

Flexibility is another clear advantage of maintaining family ownership. We are more adaptable to changes in the marketplace than larger companies and corporations. Our core values help us temper our phenomenal growth and keep us on track.
