As Vice President of Service Sales, John Slieter provides leadership for the Sales and Design teams in Battle Creek, Michigan and Lincoln, Nebraska, the Regional Managers and International Reps along with Government Sales and Program Management teams. These teams prepare client proposals and market and sell services including; airframe, engine, avionics, interior and paint.
John was hired at Duncan Aviation in 1984 as avionics send-in repair coordinator. In 1985 he was promoted to avionics installations manager. He moved to avionics sales in 1990 and then moved to VP of Completions and Modifications in 1995. John returned to sales in 2002 as VP Completions and Modifications Sales. He assumed his current responsibilities in 2007. Prior to Duncan Aviation, John worked several small avionics shops in Minnesota and South Dakota, worked for the University of Alaska as an electronics technician and as the manager of the avionics shop for Raytheon Aircraft Services in Denver, Colorado.
John has an Associates degree in Avionics from Alexandria Technical College. He has a Bachelors degree in Business and a Master of Arts degree in Business Administration from Doane College. John enjoys working with people both within the organization and around Duncan's global client base.
John and his wife Jean Lynn have three children; two daughters and one son and two awesome grand daughters. John enjoys fishing, cycling and teaching leadership for a local non profit organization. He is very proud of his son, member of the U.S. Army stationed in Afghanistan. John has served on a variety of non-profit and community boards including; local school board, small community village council, church council and Special Olympics Nebraska. He has also served on industry boards including Honeywell Channel Partner advisory board and Bombardier Authorized Service Facilities advisory board.
