Duncan Aviation is particularly proud of our TFE731 engine service capabilities. We have not only invested in equipment, but have assembled teams of the most talented engine technicians in the industry. Continued emphasis on Factory Authorized TFE731 Major Maintenance has been in place since 1980. Here are just a few of the many enhancements we’ve made in the evolution of our TFE731 engine program:

Rapid Response Service

Experienced engine technicians are on-site at Battle Creek, Dallas, Denver, Chicago and Lincoln for airframe and engine/APU AOG situations and minor inspections. Specialized tooling is at each location. Available for dispatch to assist customers with trouble-shooting and repair of TFE731 engines, including engine changes. We also service Hamilton Sundstrand and Honeywell APUs. This service is available 24/7 and has a dedicated toll-free hotline.

Training

Duncan Aviation offers training classes for trouble-shooting and line maintenance at our facility. We provide many types of training in specific areas of expertise that we can tailor to your individual training requirements. This training is provided free of charge to our customers.

Rental Engine Pool

Duncan Aviation has a fleet of Duncan-owned rental engines available to support MPI events or other engine events requiring the use of a rental engine. The fleet consists of dash 2 and 3 engines, capable of support on Falcon 10, 100 & 50, Sabreliner 65, Jetstar 731 & II, Westwind I & II, Learjet 35, 36 and 31 models and Hawker 125 series with TFE731-3 engines.

Warranty

Duncan Aviation guarantees customer satisfaction. Although specific ITT and N2 margins cannot be guaranteed, we will guarantee that the engine will meet margins acceptable to the customer and aircraft performance. Should the engine not meet satisfactory margins, Duncan Aviation will re-enter the engine to perform any necessary corrections with no labor charge to the customer. Our warranty on workmanship is from MPI to MPI or next major entry into affected area.

Non-Destructive Testing

Duncan Aviation performs some of the most sophisticated non-destructive inspection procedures available today including dye penetrant, eddy current, ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing. With our eddy current capabilities we can inspect all rotating components within the engine including LPT discs and HPT rotor bore.

A4/A5 Nozzle Flow Adjustment

Our A4/A5 Nozzle flow bench allows us to make adjustments to the A4/A5 nozzles to fine tune TFE731 engine speeds and performance. This bench measures the nozzle’s effective area, which is critical in maintaining the balance of speed and temperature in the engine. With this bench, we can better match an aircraft’s engine by adjusting temperature and speed margins.

Parallel Maintenance

Duncan Aviation’s Parallel Maintenance increases the efficiency our engine services. TFE731 engines require periodic MPI & CZI inspections. Previously this meant that after the MPI was completed the engine was reassembled and sent to the HMF (Heavy Maintenance Facility) for completion of the CZI. Parallel Maintenance eliminates the need to completely build up the engine after an MPI. With Parallel Maintenance, the core of the engine is sent to the HMF so both facilities work simultaneously on the engine, reducing cost and turntime.

Machine Shop

Duncan Aviation’s dedicated machine shop enables us to perform in-house repairs on a majority of engine parts and complete the machining processes required by various service bulletins. We’ve invested in specialty equipment such as an inert gas welding chamber, a thermal spray unit, and CNC machining units. These allow repair work to be done in-house, saving our customers valuable time in the inspection/repair process and allowing us to better control costs and turntime.

Blading & Digital Balancing

Our two digital balancing machines provide us with precise balancing capabilities that allow Duncan to balance and blade HPT and LPT turbine discs and fan discs for the TFE731. More than 90% of the fan discs that are balanced before they're installed don't need balancing while on the aircraft. In addition, we can balance the TFE731 fan shaft.

APU Service

Duncan Aviation is an authorized line service center for Honeywell & Sundstrand APUs (all service up to and including Hot sections). Our factory trained technicians have APU experience with the airframe models of Falcon, Hawker, Cessna, Challenger, Gulfstream, Astra/G-100/Westwind, Sabreliner, Jetstar & Saab.

Duncan Aviation supports the Factory Authorized MSP and HSSP Service Plan and warranty support programs. In addition, Duncan Aviation can assist in coordinated APU overhauls and we also have access to Honeywell's rental bank and participate in Honeywell's exchange program. Ongoing Sundstrand & Honeywell  training programs are available for employees and customers and Duncan Aviation accepts ship in APUs guaranteeing quick turntimes.
