Corroded landing gear is nothing new and usually comes as no big surprise to anyone. The Hawker 125 series landing gear is no different. Years of water, dirt, salt air, fluid and various other electrolytes have taken their toll on this gear as well. The gear is very susceptible to corrosion, even though steps have been taken to lessen the effects.
During the overhaul process, corrosion has been found on just about every piece and part of the gear. The corrosion can often be repaired using standard repair schemes available in the CMM, but sometimes the corrosion has even developed beyond the limits of those repair tolerances.
Some of the more severe corrosion is depicted in the following slides. Duncan Aviation has Hawker Airframe Factory Authorizations at Lincoln, NE (LNK).
