Keep Your Citation Cool
Hamilton-Standard recently released an SB affecting heat exchangers in many Citation aircraft. It affects heat exchanger part #s 744205, 775602, 790298 and 815160. Operators and service centers have discovered these heat exchangers partially or completely clogged, dramatically reducing ram air flow which reduces cooling efficiency and causes ACM failures.
We’ve seen the exchangers clogged exactly as described by Hamilton-Standard. Their SB 21- 2171, issued in January 1998, describes the proper cleaning procedure. The bulletin recommends the exchanger cleaning cycle initially be set at 1,000 hrs.
If yours hasn’t been cleaned, it is important to check it as soon as possible. You can remove the ductwork to physically check to see if the exchanger is clogged; however, Duncan has developed a procedure to borescope the exchanger. This checks the exchanger without removing so many parts.
Because of the large number of clogged exchangers, we recommend immediate inspection and cleaning to prevent ACM fan surge, and a potential ACM failure.

Time For An Nl Computer Retrofit?
The SafeFlight Nl Computer retrofit for Citation Ultras is now available at Duncan. This installation replaces the manually operated thumb wheel reminder with an automated Air Data Display. The information provided is accurate and reliable. The display looks good and has a bright/dim adjustment.

Freon A/C System For 650s
Duncan holds the STC for a Freon Air Conditioning System for 650s. With the recent heat wave, now is the time to consider this modification and cool down your 650.

EGPWS Continues Popularity
Passengers and crews have become much more aware of the safety provided by Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS). Duncan installed an MK-VII EGPWS in a Citation 650 in June. Certification is expected in August.

Aircraft Sales & Acquisitions
Selling your Citation can be a stressful time, and what can be even more stressful is buying a preowned aircraft. Stress from both these situations can be greatly reduced at the pre-buy evaluation.
When selecting a facility for a pre-buy evaluation, look first for a company that can be recommended by other operators. The facility should be full service, complete with engine and avionics diagnostic capabilities. Other overlooked qualifications include import and export services and on-staff DAR services.
All of the above, with the right pre-buy evaluation checklist, developed through years of experience, will help you select a high-quality, pre-owned aircraft and a quality service facility.

Quick Tips & Info
There is an SB for 550/560 series aircraft modifying the entry step snubber so it won’t catch on clothes or trip people as they deplane.
Many of the bushings and hardware on 650/550 seats require replacement—especially armrests, because they are high wear.
For more info, please contact Jeannine Falter in Lincoln at 800.228.4277 or Shelley Ewalt in Battle Creek at 800.525.2376.
