F2000 Using More Oil Than Normal
Question
Hello, Ron:
The #1 engine air starter on our F2000 has been using more oil than normal for the last three months. During the first 1500 hours, the consumption rate has been normal. Now we add 1/2 pint of oil approximately every 100 hours.
I changed the packings on overflow drain and inspected the oil drain lines. I also inspected the turbine blades with negative results. The oil leak continues.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Roberto

Answer
Hello, Roberto:
There have been a few issues with the Falcon #1 engine air starter unit from the beginning of the program. More than likely you have an oil leak around the air starter drive shaft seal. To better understand the problem with the engine air starter and to locate recommended action to resolve the over-consumption of oil, review the FSA specific to your part number.
I hope this will help.
