Aircraft Market Summary
2009 was a tough year for the pre-owned aircraft market. There was an extreme dip in the number of aircraft transaction early in the first quarter while the number placed on the market climbed steadily with pricing declining throughout the year. There are signs of stabilization with the number of fourth quarter transactions up nearly 167% from the bottom in March of 2009. We begin 2010 with more transactions recorded in the last quarter of 2009 and fewer aircraft available for sale than there were when 2009 began.
Although sales in the pre-owned aircraft market are still slow, the number of aircraft available for sale is trending lower. We believe this trend will continue through the first quarter of 2010 as serious buyers recognize and take advantage of great opportunities to get the best aircraft value available. There are several markets that have seen pricing strengthen over the last quarter.
