TFE731-2 HPT Disk Eddy Current Inspection
If you operate a Falcon 10, you should be aware that evidence of a higher than anticipated thermal gradient in some TFE731-2 HP Turbine disks has resulted in revised life calculations. These TFE731-2 HP Turbine disks are currently subjected to fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) during the Major Periodic Inspection (MPI). So far, no bore cracks have been detected through FPI. AlliedSignal now believes an Eddy Current inspection is required in addition to the current FPI.
The Eddy Current inspection for detecting potential HP turbine rotor disk bore cracks will be conveyed via SB TFE731-A72-3623 (SB release eminent). SB TFE731- A72-3623 requires Eddy Current inspection of all TFE731-2 HPT disks with more than 4200 cycles since new (CSN) prior to the disk accumulating 4700 CSN. Disks with between 4201 and 4700 CSN will require Eddy Current inspection within the next 500 cycles or prior to reaching 4900 CSN. Disks with more than 4701 CSN will require Eddy Current inspection within the next 200 CSN. This SB is intended as a one time inspection for high-time disks.

Our Engine/Airframe Road Teams Know Your Aircraft
Because of customer demand, Duncan technicians at both our facilities make dozens of “in the field” road trips every year in order to help customers who can not get their engines to a service facility.
For more information, please contact Jeff Manion, Cecil Sloan or Jon Dodson in Lincoln at 800.228.4277 or Dan Arrick in Battle Creek at 800.525.2376.
Aircraft Sales And Acquisitions
Selling your Falcon can be a stressful time, and what can be even more stressful is buying a preowned aircraft. Stress from both of these situations can be greatly reduced at the pre-buy evaluation.
When selecting a facility for a pre-buy evaluation, look first for a company that can be recommended by other operators. The facility should be full service, complete with engine and avionics diagnostic capabilities. Other overlooked qualifications include import and export services and on-staff DAR services.
All of the above, with the right pre-buy evaluation checklist, developed through years of experience, will help you select a high-quality, pre-owned aircraft and a quality service facility.

Horizontal Stabilizer Rear Hinge Bushings
Dassault recently released a new requirement to perform a dimensional check of the horizontal stabilizer rear hinge bushings for the F50/50EX, F900/900EX and the F2000 aircraft. Duncan Aviation has 12 techincians who are certified by Dassault to perform this check.
For more information, please contact Jeff Manion in Lincoln at 800.228.4277, or Pete Kilmartin in Battle Creek at 800.525.2376.
Satellite Communication Antenna Change
Working closely with Dassault Aviation, Duncan Aviation recently completed a customer’s request to remove a conformal Satellite Communication Antenna and install a new and improved tailmounted version. Since this was the first time an operator had removed a conformal antenna, an open line of communication was necessary with the factory. With an initial goal of enhancing the overall aesthetics of an already clean aircraft, this customer will realize an increase in communication performance and reliability as well.
If you would like to re-evaluate the look or performance of your Falcon 900, please contact Gary Harpster in Lincoln at 800.228.4277, or Bob Stickler in Battle Creek at 800.525.2376.
