Engine Shop Begins First Carbon Seal Inspection

The first industry inspection of the new style #1 and #3 carbon seals and runners was recently performed at Duncan. These seals were installed 1400 hours ago and made it through the entire MPI interval without any problems. The carbon seals appeared to be in excellent condition, showing little wear or carbon buildup. The seal runners were in the same excellent condition. They showed even wear patterns and no signs of seal skipping. The #l carbon seal and rotor were reinstalled. Although the #3 carbon seal was also in excellent condition, it was removed and sent to Phoenix for further testing. The seal runner was reinstalled with a new #3 carbon seal.

1998 Will Be A Busy Year

The 1997 market was strong for all major Falcon Service Facilities. All indications show that this growth will continue into 1998. A quick look back at our Airframe Shop shows that our teams completed 13 - C/2C, 6 - B/2B, 3 - Z, 39 - A/2A+/4A+ Airframe Inspections on various Falcon model aircraft.

Accessory Expansion Underway

Duncan’s Accessory Shop is being expanded. This added space will allow us to more efficiently process workloads, speed up turntimes and allow for additional test equipment and exchange unit storage. Our time & material exchange program includes advantages like:

• Exchange price == Overhaul your core unit + a small exchange fee
• Only one removal and installation
• A minimum of downtime

New Accessory Shop Capability

Duncan’s Accessory Shop has added many new Falcon capabilities. One of these new capabilities is the Aileron Variable Bellcrank (Aileron Amedee as it is sometimes referred to) P/N 028008-18. This variable bellcrank is found on the Falcon 10 and has a 12 year inspection interval with which we can comply.

Duncan also has a Time and Material Exchange unit to support customers who are on-the-go and cannot put their aircraft down for this maintenance.

Satellite Communication Duncan Aviation's First Falcon 2000

Duncan Aviation recently installed a Satellite Communication System in a new Falcon 2000. Working closely with Dassault Falcon Jet, Ron Grose, John Slieter and Gary Harpster worked out a plan for Duncan to be the first facility outside of the factory to install a Collins Six-Channel Sat Corn System on a 2000. Although Duncan has installed Sat Corn Systems on 900’s, we had never installed one on a 2000.

After hours of phone conversations between Lincoln and Dassault Falcon Jet in Teterboro, it was determined that Duncan would receive Falcon Jet’s only available spare radome for the Falcon 2000. Thanks to a very talented crew of installers and system designers, this aircraft was delivered with all the communication features of an airborne office.

Besides installing a complex World Wide Communications System, the crew also removed an existing FMS and installed two new Honeywell NZ-2000 FMS systems so the customer could have fleet compatibility with their 900.
