Iron Core Gyro Problems?
— Dennis DeCook
If you would like to improve your aircraft’s gyro reliability and accuracy, you should consider the installation of the Collins AHS-3000 Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS). The AHS-3000 features a digital quartz sensor that provides heading and attitude information to the flight deck and other on-board systems–information absolutely essential to flight. It is more accurate, far more reliable and has a lower cycle cost than conventional systems. It features no moving parts and up to 10,000 hours mean time between failure, helping to ensure reliability and dispatchability.
The installation of the AHS-3000 can only be accomplished using an STC and an authorized Rockwell Collins dealer with a typical downtime of seven days to complete the installation.

Considering EVS?
— Dennis DeCook
If safety is important to you, then you are probably considering the installation of an Enhanced Vision System in your aircraft.
The Max-Viz Enhanced Vision System (EVS) uses uncooled, long-wave infrared sensors to gather data about runways, terrain and any potential obstacles on the ground or in flight. These images are enhanced, relayed and displayed on any video-capable display system in the cockpit.
The Max-Viz EVS systems provides additional safety for which pilots and passengers are looking. It enables pilots to “see through” conditions of poor visibility such as haze, smoke, snow, rain, and the darkness of night.
Duncan Aviation is an authorized Max-Viz dealer, and has recently completed the installation of this system in a Gulfstream G-IV. Call Dennis DeCook at 800.525.2376 for details on the system and installation.
Enhanced Surveillance Mandate
— Dave Pleskac
Enhanced Surveillance (EHS) is now mandatory for all IFR flights within the airspace of Germany and Great Britain, and will be mandatory in France March 31, 2006.
However, EUROCONTROL has established a transition period until March 31, 2007. Operators who do not currently have Enhanced Mode S Surveillance must apply for an exemption. For more information about this installation, please contact Dennis DeCook at 800.525.2376.
