Landing Gear Door Corrosion Prevention
—John Kauppila
The GII, GIIB, GIII, and GIV Structural Repair Manuals reference a repair drawing to add a form-in-place gasket to the main landing gear doors. The gasket is applied to the door flange where metal-to-metal contact occurs with the fuselage. If your aircraft has these gaskets installed, you can prevent costly repairs by inspecting gasket integrity. Due to the environment and abuse the doors are exposed to, we have seen some heavy corrosion at the flange area. Note: the repair drawing only adds the gasket, it does not address the corrosion issues.
Chapter 5 Time Limited Components
—John Kauppila
The aft section of the throttle cable is now a time limited component for GII, GIIB, GIII, and GIV aircraft. During routine inspections we have found severely frayed cables in the applicable areas. In one instance, a cable was found with two cable strands remaining. Depending on baggage compartment configuration, these cables may be difficult to access and inspect. If your aircraft has not reached the first replacement schedule, keep this in mind for your next inspection.
