Duncan Tech Tips
1. Loose inboard flap hinge arms on the flap of 800 series Hawkers have been an unforeseen maintenance item in our airframe shop. The Maintenance Schedule does not address this area as an inspection item. The repair has been to measure the worn holes and report the findings to Raytheon R.D.O. for an RIL repair scheme.
2. Water has been found in the leading edge of the ailerons on 800 series aircraft. An RIL to remove the water is generated by Raytheon R.D.O. for approved data repair.
3. STC-installed equipment on all series Hawker aircraft may have Continued Airworthiness requirements such as an inspection, function check or life-limited part. The holder of the Type Certificate or Supplemental Type Certificate for an aircraft, aircraft engine, or propeller for which application was made after Jan. 28, 1981, shall furnish at least one set of complete Instructions for Continued Airworthiness per FAR 21.50.
Duncan Inspections
In the last year, Duncan has performed 28 major inspections consisting of the 48Mth/4800Hr, with 12 Yr. structurals to the 12Mth/300Hr on various 400, 600, 700, 800 and 1000 series aircraft.
Interior Research Payoffs Big During Refurbishments
Hawker interior refurbishments can be tricky. Many completion centers have designed new interiors for Hawkers. When designing a new interior, knowing who fabricated your old one can help eliminate surprises with the refurbishments and while performing maintenance.
Example: During a recent HS700 headliner refurbishment, it was discovered the forward galley couldn’t be easily removed, complicating removal and refitting of the panel.
A Look At SB 72-3613
AlliedSignal released SB 72-3596 early ‘96 to replace the number 1, 3, 4 and 5 carbon seals with the new design segmented carbon seal and ceramic runners. Under this service bulletin, all four seals were replaced, requiring a core entry.
AlliedSignal has now released SB 72-3613, allowing us to replace the number 1 and 3 carbon seals at the next MPI or if you develop a problem between maintenance events. When the bulletin is accomplished, several other bulletins must also be complied with. These bulletins involve rework of the Fan Support Housing, the Breather Pressurizing Valve and rework of the Transfer Gearbox. AlliedSignal has issued special pricing on the new parts needed.
