Hawker '99/'00 UPDATE - 800XP BOLT HEAD INSPECTION
As you are aware, Raytheon Aircraft Company has issued Communique #51-02 dated August 23, 2000, informing all Hawker 800 and Hawker 800XP operators of the hydrogen embrittlement bolt condition orginally reported in Communique #51-01 dated May 12, 2000.
We wanted to update you on this topic. To date, 12 aircraft and approximately 10,000 bolts have been inspected, revealing only 60 broken bolts. The primary objective of this investigation is to ensure that all of the potentially affected bolts are inspected. According to Communique #51-02, two Service Bulletins will be issued shortly dividing the affected aircraft into two groups: Group A having to accomplish the SB within 12 months and Group B having to accomplish it within 18 months. There are 103 affected aircraft, and so far only 12 have had their wings bolts inspected and/or replaced. That leaves 91 aircraft still needing to comply.
Given the number of affected aircraft and the limited number of service centers capable of accomplishing this Service Bulletin, securing your preferred input date will be difficult if scheduled at the last-minute.
