Hawker 800 Revision 6
By Dan Fuoco
As Hawker 800 operators are aware by now, Revision 6, dated December 2002, has been issued. One of the more significant changes of this revision was in regards to Structural Inspection Tasks 530007, 530008, 530009 and 530010, Ventral Baggage Pannier or Ventral Fuel Tank Inspections.
The removal of the Baggage Pannier or Ventral Tank is required to accomplish these inspections. The original frequency of the inspection began at eight years then every four years thereafter. The revision requires the initial inspection at 15 - 18 years then every eight years thereafter. 800 operators who have accomplished this task at the old frequency should be aware that the “then every” frequency increased from every four to eight years.
Call Dan Fuoco at 800.228.4277 ext. 1502 for further clarification.
Nose Wheel Balancing
By Dick Hyde
Recently, several customers have asked about nose wheel balancing with respect to noisy wheel spin down. Duncan Aviation has developed a technique which has been quite effective at balancing the nose wheel assemblies.

SB 35-3495
By Dick Hyde
SB 35-3495 involves the installation of the new Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE). If you are operating an 800 or 800XP, make sure you get your PBE ordered and installed before the end of the Warranty period (Dec. 2003), this way you do not have to pay for the PBE or its installation, if installed at a service center. The original SB gives operators three spots in which the PBE can be installed. In addition, Raytheon just came out with Communiqué #35-04 allowing it to be installed in a fourth spot.

Communique 05-12
By Dick Hyde
Raytheon Communique 05-12 has changed the landing gear overhaul times from 4000 landings to 5000 landings or 10 years, whichever comes first. If your gear falls outside of the 10 year requirement, the communique states that it has to be overhauled within the next 24 months of issuance of the appropriate AFMS or AMS.
700 and 800 AFMS revisions are scheduled for Dec 2003. 1 thru 400 and 600 AMS revisions are scheduled for March 2004. 800XP and 1000 AFMS revisions have been issued. Try to schedule your overhauls at your earliest convenience to avoid downtimes.

If you have a Honeywell EGPWS system (Mk V, VI, VII or VIII), you should visit www.egpws.com. This site allows aircraft operators to download and install terrain database updates as they become available. The site also gives instructions to accomplish database updates as well as info about additional equipment requirements. A note of caution: updating the EGPWS data base may negate the EGPWS certification. So before making any updates, review your EGPWS Flight Manual Supplement and contact the holder of your EGPWS STC installation.
Cabin Window Cleaning
By Dick Hyde
In chapter 56 of the Hawker 400A Maintenance Manual, an internal cleaning procedure for windows is addressed. Part of this procedure involves removing the window. Duncan Aviation has a procedure which leaves the window intact for cleaning. The procedure cleans the inside of the window cavity, and also validates the inner/outer window seal bond.
