Hawker Fall 2005
Scheduling Gear Overhaul
— Karl Detweiler
The Hawker community is experiencing a wave of landing gear overhauls. If your aircraft needs a gear overhaul in accordance with new requirements, we suggest you make arrangements as soon as possible.
Duncan Aviation has planned ahead over the past two years, and keeps orders at RAPID for one year’s projection of parts needs at all times. This planning has helped Duncan Aviation to deal with the increased activity. We currently have inventory in stock and on order totalling $5 million.
There are rumors that Duncan Aviation has an unfair parts advantage during this time of higher demand. However, it simply is our preplanning and advance ordering that allows Duncan Aviation to have piece parts in inventory. This inventory, along with Duncan Aviation’s experienced technicians, assures operators of first-quality, timely overhauls.
If you are interested in scheduling a landing gear overhaul, please contact Chris Gress at 800.228.4277, ext. 1664, or Dan Fuoco at ext. 1502.
Update: LoPresti Boom Lights
— Roy Olsen
As previously discussed, on early 800 series aircraft with the pulse lighting system and then the LoPresti Boom light system installed, the pulse lights will not pulse. Raytheon has issued communique 33-07 on the problem. They have found that if the aircraft is equipped with a controller (P/N 2400-25-4-4), the system will not function when the Lopresti system is installed. Aircraft with the later model controllers have no problem when the LoPresti system is installed. Currently they are trying to have the original STC amended by the FAA to have a new controller installed. If approved, Raytheon is planning on issuing a Service Bulletin in the October/November 2005 time-frame.
STC for Hawker Pure Lead Main Ship Battery
— Karl Detweiler
Securaplane Technologies has obtained STCs for installation of the Hawker solid, lead, main ship battery (P/N 9750W0640) on Hawker 400/600/700/800 series aircraft.
The STC and batteries can be purchased through Securaplane distributors, including Duncan Aviation.
The dual 25Ah battery installation was developed as a direct replacement for existing lead acid batteries and as an STC’d replacement for Ni-Cad installations.
EnerSys’ line of Hawker Main Ship batteries offer significant advantages compared to other sealed main aircraft batteries. Benefits include:
- A 30-month full replacement warranty on batteries after installation, and a 24-month storage warranty prior to installation is standard for Securaplane/Hawker Main Ship Batteries.
- Batteries are shipped fully charged and ready to install.
- True no-maintenance battery.
- Reduced maintenance costs and replacement costs equate to reduced operating costs and fewer maintenance hours.
- Hot and cold performance far exceeds that of any other aviation battery.
- Unsurpassed cranking power.
- Battery monoblock replacement reduces costs by eliminating new battery purchases.
- This true, solid battery, may be shipped as non-hazardous material via ground or air.
The Hawker battery brand is not affiliated with Raytheon Aircraft Company’s line of Hawker aircraft. The Hawker brand battery is also STC’d for installation on various business aircraft built by other manufacturers.
