Securaplane Battery Installations
— Karl Detweiler
Various Hawker aircraft operators have installed Securaplane main aircraft batteries under FAA field approvals. Securaplane expects full STC approvals for the installation of the batteries in Hawker 600s, 700s, 800s, and 800XPs by the end of April 2005. These STC approvals will make the installation process quick and simple.
The Securaplane battery has been approved as a direct PMA replacement for any Concorde lead acid battery installation. Any Hawker aircraft can have the Concorde lead acid battery replaced with the Securaplane battery simply with a logbook entry. Any other model of Hawker can have the Securaplane battery installed with a field approval. Field approvals have been simplified by Securaplane’s issuance of an engineering report that can be used as a part of the field approval process.
The Securaplane main ship battery continues to be a hot topic of conversation among aircraft operators. The 30-month full replacement warranty (not pro-rated), improved amp-hour performance ratings, better hot and cold weather performance, vastly reduced maintenance requirements and reduced per flight hour costs, have operators looking to incorporate the Securaplane main ship batteries into their operations.

Landing Gear Log Book
— Dick Hyde
In addition to 8130 paperwork that goes with overhauled main gear, nose gear, sidestays and dragstays, Duncan Aviation accessory shop provides a log sheet for each assembly to track lifed components.
Quick turn times result if we know assembly part numbers, times, cycles and if this is a first, second, etc., gear overhaul.
For a copy of a log sheet for us to determine present times and cycles and a listing sheet of spare parts that must accompany the main and nose gear, sidestay and dragstay at overhaul, contact Dick Hyde at 800.228.4277 / 402.479.1561.

Fuel Boost Pump Reminder
— Karl Detweiler
Airborne fuel pumps PN 2C40-2 continue to perform well in Hawker aircraft. Their reliability continues to exceed Intertechnique pumps, PN 2070C01 and 2070C11. Although both pumps use about the same amperage, the Airborne pump does not develop as much internal heat. Heat reduction is accomplished through a double commutator design.
The 2C40-2 pump is a direct replacement for the 2070C01 and 2070C11 pumps in all models of the Hawker 125 series through SB 28-88.
