Overhaul Deadline Extensions
— Dan Fuoco
Duncan Aviation can assist Hawker operators who are up against the landing gear overhaul deadlines to obtain two key extension documents. One is a letter from Duncan Aviation stating that the operator has paid a $25,000 deposit and is firmly scheduled for either overhaul or exchange landing gear. Second, Duncan Aviation can obtain a letter from Raytheon stating “no objection” to the extension. With these two letters the operator’s local FAA has the appropriate documentation to grant the request for extension. The extension is limited to the date of the scheduled overhaul or exchange change out.
Enhanced Surveillance Mandate
— Gary Harpster
Enhanced Surveillance (EHS) is now mandatory for all IFR flights within the airspace of Germany and Great Britain, and will be mandatory in France March 31, 2006.
However, EUROCONTROL has established a transition period until March 31, 2007. Operators who do not currently have Enhanced Mode S Surveillance must apply for an exemption. For more information about this installation, please contact Gary Harpster at 800.228.4277.
Paint Overspray
— Dick Hyde
Recently Duncan Aviation technicians have encountered painted control surface cables in the aft wing areas. These included the aileron, aileron trim tab, airbrake and flap sync cables.
Occasionally we find paint on these cables from overspray to full coats of paint. The maintenance manual speaks to the care and inspection of these cables in chapter 20-10-31 pg 201 par 3, specifying that these cables be inspected and lubricated. Pay attention during your next paint workscope that wing cables remain clear of paint.

Also, if you have an unanswered issue, these also can be put to press and someone may have an answer. We all are tasked to provide a safe and reliable aircraft for those who fly in them.
Avionics Loaner Policy Adjustment
— Rick Whitesell
For more than 30 years, Duncan Aviation’s free loaner program has kept customers flying when their avionics and instrument units required repair or overhaul. During these many years, costs associated with operating business aircraft have soared. Duncan Aviation loaners have remained free and will continue to be free; however, a slight adjustment is warranted.
Since inception of the free loaners program, recertification of every loaner unit returned to Duncan Aviation has been required. Duncan Aviation has always absorbed the cost of returning loaners to service during the recertification process, but now we are asking customers to help shoulder the cost of returning these units back to original manufacturer specifications. Recertification fees will range from between $50 and $200 depending on the time it takes to recertify a particular unit.
If you have questions about the recertification fee, please contact Rick Whitesell at 800.LOANERS.
