Learjet Fall 2003
60 Model T/R Stang Fairings
— Dave Schiver
Throughout the service life of the 60s, there has been an ongoing issue with the stang fairings cracking. Atlantic Aero developed a Carbon Fiber replacement STC. These have been used by Flexjet. Learjet is now selling the carbon fiber stang fairings as a spares replacement. These are manufactured by Atlantic Aero and cost approximately $12K (Please check current pricing). Duncan Aviation is also an authorized dealer and can buy these direct and install them per the Atlantic Aero STC. The P/N's are as follows:
| Position | Old L/J P/N | New P/N |
| #1 Engine O/B | 266-0659-505 | 19350001-01 |
| #2 Engine O/B | 266-0659-506 | 19350001-02 |
| #1 Engine I/B | 266-0654-505 | 19350007-03 |
| #2 Engine I/B | 266-0654-504 | 19350001-04 |
FAA Approval Drawing Near
— Chris Gress
The EM608 Cockpit Blower Brushless PMA Motor replacement is in the final states of qualification testing with the FAA. We estimate this blower improvement will double or even triple the life of your cockpit blower resulting in a significant savings. Many Lear operators have already contacted Duncan Aviation to be placed on the advance order list. The number on this list determines how many brushless motors will be produced in the initial production run. If you have not called and spoken to Chris Gress, now is the time to do so. We plan to finalize the quantities in a few weeks. If you miss the first production run, there will be a lead time of several months. For more information, please contact Chris Gress at 800.228.4277 ext. 1664.

45 Shear Pin AD
— Dave Schiver
Please note that Airworthiness Directive 2003-16-09, amendment 39-13262 has an action item that should have been complied with within 14 days after the effective date of the amendment (August 27, 2003). Paragraph (a) reads:
"Within 14 days after the effective date of this AD, revise the airworthiness limitations (AWL) section of the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness by inserting the instructions for Inspection Reference Numbers (IRN) J3220041, J3220042, and J3220043 (shear pins); as specified on page 2 of Chapter 4-11-00, Revision 32, dated June 13, 2003, of the Learjet 45 Maintenance Manual; into the AWL section. Thereafter, except as provided in paragraph (e) of this AD, no alternative replacement interval may be approved for the shear pins in the trunnion assemblies of the MLGs."
Please note that this was taken straight out of the AD. This means that the operator must have paragraph (a) signed off in their Log Book as of September 10, 2003. Non-compliance could result in not receiving a "Return to Service" after an inspection.
