MSP Operators May Only Have Their Engine Work Performed By A Honeywell (AlliedSignal) Authorized Service Center
Duncan Aviation is part of Honevwell’s Authorized Service Center Network. This means Duncan Aviation is authorized to perform Maintenance Service Plan (MSP) work on the TFE731 product line, TPE331 product line, and APU’s. Here is a definition of the different authorization levels:
- HEAVY/OVERHAUL is authorized by Honeywell to perform the total disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly and functional test of an engine, an engine module, Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), or component.
- *MAJOR is authorized by Honeywell to perform major engine disassembly and repairs, including turbine hot section inspections, gearbox inspection, and component troubleshooting.
- LINE is authorized by Honeywell to perform flight line and transient types of service such as minor inspections, oil and filter changes, removal and replacement of engines, external LRU’s, accessories and components, plus all related services not requiring disassembly of either the engine or its components.
- SOAP is a laboratory that will provide Spectrometric Oil and Filter Analysis of the engines listed. They will also provide results directly to the operator.
Our Lincoln facility is a *MAJOR for TFE731, LINE for TFE731-20/40/60, *MAJOR for TPE331, LINE for APU. Our Battle Creek facility is a *MAJOR for TPE331, and LINE for TFE731.
We hope this provides some clarification on the issue of who can and can’t perform work for MSP. Every level of authorization described above provides a level of quality service as a result of high standards, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution. All authorized service centers are required to meet certain high standards to help ensure quality service. They are also the only approved facilities to perform maintenance on engines under Honeywell’s MSP factory warranties.
Whenever an MSP engine is handled by an approved service center, Line, Major, or Heavy, all of the required maintenance can be arranged through the service center, even if the workscope is beyond the authorization held. For example, a LINE service center can remove an engine for maintenance and send it to an approved Major or Heavy for the required MPI or CZI workscope. For example, our Lincoln facility, as a TFE731 Major, can perform an MPI and send the compressor work to a Heavy, like Phoenix Repair and Overhaul for the CZI. The intent is to keep the engine within the approved service center network, which is what we do.
Our combined effort does not slow things down, it actually accelerates the process of an MPI/CZI. For details, contact Jon Dodson at 800.228.4277 ext. 4250.
