Urgent Reminder

The following P/N fan discs will require replacement by 12/31/2002: 3072162-all, 3073539- all, 3073436-all, 3074529-all, and 3072816-all. Honeywell Service Bulletin TFE731-72-3668 has further details. Special reduced pricing for the replacement fan discs will terminate 12/31/2002.

N1 DEECs @ MPI

Honeywell is enhancing the N1 DEECs field incorporation program for MSP Gold operators.

Under the original program, all MSP operators of TFE731 engine models which had N1 DEECs developed, certified and approved through the FAA or foreign Government STC process could receive a N1 DEEC to replace their current EEC at no charge at time of scheduled or unscheduled CZI. At that time, all engines on the aircraft would receive a replacement N1 DEEC. Note: No mixing of N1 DEECs and EECs is permitted.

Effective September 10th, 2002, MSP Gold operators of TFE731 engine models having approved N1 DEECs will receive N1 DEECs at their next scheduled or unscheduled MPI or CZI event at no charge.

As always, MSP operators can request the approved N1 DEECs at any other time for a charge of $3,000 per unit.

Verification of in-service Fan Gearbox Pressure Levels

The TFE731 Light Maintenance Manuals are currently being revised to reflect new procedures when performing gearbox pressure checks. Along with the revision there will be new steps and recommended equipment to use during these pressure checks to ensure correct readings are obtained. The biggest change for the TFE731-20/40/60 operators will be the recording of the fan gearbox pressure. Unlike the earlier TFE models the Fan Gearbox pressure port for gauge reading is located directly on the oil pump housing. All fan gearbox pressure results should be measured with a gauge capable of measuring in units of psi or inches of mercury in vacuum.

Take advantage of this system by keeping your download cables on the aircraft and having a laptop available, in case the need for doing a download occurs while away from home. Having the fault information available can significantly reduce downtime, maintenance complexity and cost.
