TFE731 Winter 2007
Honeywell Alert Service Bulletins
Service Bulletin TFE731-A72-5185
Inspect/replace specific HP turbine discs, P/N 3060841-1, which has a 10,000 hour cycle limit. This SB applies to all TFE731-20/40/60 series engines and affects certain serial numbers. The reason for this SB is that some rotor discs were incorrectly machined in a high stress area that would reduce disc life. The HPT rotor disc must be inspected prior to 4,000 cycles. Please refer to the SB for specific inspection requirements and time limits. If you have a suspect HPT rotor disc, the disc needs to be returned to Honeywell for further inspection.
Operators Beware - This may increase your engine downtime dramatically due to the volume of HPT rotor discs coming in to Honeywell. It may be up to a week before the disc is inspected. If the disc fails, there are limited HPT rotor discs available at this time, which will also increase downtime.
Service Bulletin TFE731-A76-3079
Replace specific identified N1 Digital Electronic Engine Controls (DEEC), P/Ns 2119010 and 2119020 series, installed on the TFE731-2/3/5 series engines (4 not included). The reason for this SB is the diodes installed in the DEEC do not meet specification requirements and may cause an uncommanded engine shutdown. This SB affects certain serial numbers, so refer to the SB for specific inspection requirements, time limits and affected part number/serial number list.
Service Bulletin TFE731-A76-3080
Replace specific identified N1 Digital Electronic Engine Controls (DEEC), P/Ns 2119010-8000/9000, installed on the TFE731-5 series engines. The reason for this SB is because the incorrect Operational Amplifiers installed in the DEEC may cause loss of engine control and/or loss of overspeed protection. This SB affects certain serial numbers, so refer to the SB for specific inspection requirements, time limits and the affected part number/serial number list.
Honeywell Service Information Letter F731-103
Moisture may gather around the N2 monopole cannon plug causing the EEC/DEEC to trip to manual mode. Honeywell has changed the LMM procedures or has issued a temporary revision depending on engine model. Honeywell provides instructions to apply a waterproofing material to the N2 monopole cannon plug, if you get a repeated computer trip to manual mode due to the N2 monopole. For preventive maintenance, we suggest installing the protective tape at your next inspection to help prevent any further AOG situations.
Attention Operators - As of February 1, 2007, Honeywell will no longer accept RMA (Return Material Authorization) for non-Honeywell related issues such as parts ordered and not needed or parts ordered incorrectly. These parts will be yours! Only parts that are out of customer control such as product quality and/or Honeywell errors may be returned for credit.
