Duncan Aviation Sponsors U.S. Aerobatic Team Member Chandy Clanton
March 24, 2003
LINCOLN, NEB. - Duncan Aviation is a proud sponsor of U.S. Aerobatic team member Chandy Clanton, who will compete in her first World Aerobatic Championships in Florida this summer. She will also be one of six pilots showcased in the "Stars of Tomorrow" program during EAA's AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis.
Born and raised in Lincoln, Neb., Clanton is a former Duncan Aviation employee and the daughter of Harry Barr, a longtime pilot and employee of Duncan Aviation. She has flown 1,200 hours and holds several ratings, including: commercial, multi-engine with instrument and type ratings for a DC-3 and Learjets. She is the youngest member of the U.S. Aerobatic team. "For me, flying in competition and flying at airshows complement each other," Clanton says. "The discipline I have learned from the competition arena makes me a better airshow pilot. I love doing both!" The mother of two young boys, Clanton spent sixteen years as a competitive swimmer, culminating at the University of Minnesota. Then she set her sights on flying and has competed in aerobatic competitions for the last eight years. She flies a Zivko Edge 540 with 330 horsepower and a 420-degree-per-second roll rate. "It's one of the most exciting aerobatic airplanes in the world," she says.
