Duncan Aviation Announces Scholarship Winners

LINCOLN, NEB. -- Duncan Aviation is pleased to announce the names of 10 recipients of the 2003 Duncan Aviation Scholarship program. The recipients, who have at least one parent who is a full-time Duncan Aviation employee, will each receive $2,000 a year for up to four years of continuous enrollment at an accredited two- or four-year college or post-secondary vocational school. The money may be applied toward tuition, fees, books, or room and board.
Recipients were chosen by an independent selection committee who reviewed their grade point averages, ACT scores, class ranking, citizenship, activities, leadership skills and career goals. The winners include the following:
Matthew Scott Bremer, son of Jerry & Ranae Bremer of Lincoln, Nebraska
Bremer will graduate from Lincoln East High School in June 2003. He is a member of the Lincoln East High Marching Band, the East High baseball team, the National Honor Society and the Math Club. He volunteers at the Matt Talbot Soup Kitchen and serves as an usher with his church.
Staci Earnest, daughter of Greg Earnest & Lisa Winkelman of Fayetteville, Arkansas
Earnest attends Fayetteville High School and will graduate in 2003. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Literacy League and the Spanish National Honor Society. She enjoys helping others and has spent time tutoring Spanish and performing other various community service projects.
Elizabeth Lee, daughter of Eric & Mary Lee of Lincoln, Nebraska
Lee attends Lincoln High School and will graduate in June 2003. She is a member of the Varsity Girls Golf Team and was awarded the Academic All-Conference Award and Scholar Athlete Award. She is a member of the marching band, select symphonic band and pep band as well as the French Club, Meditation Club, Honor Roll and the National Honor Society.
Jaime Kay Link, daughter of Terry & Nadine Link of Malcolm, Nebraska
Link attends Malcolm High School and will graduate in May 2003. She participated in choir and band, played volleyball, basketball and track, and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Future Business Leaders of America.
Benjamin Reis, son of Dudley & Donna Reis of Seward, Nebraska
Reis attends Seward Senior High School and will graduate in May 2003. He is a member of the Key Club, the Future Business Leaders of America, the Future Farmers of America and was a leader in his church youth group. He spent many hours planning a Walk-A-Thon to benefit Children's Miracle Network.
Amanda Showalter, daughter of Curt & Becky Showalter of Lincoln, Nebraska
Showalter will graduate in June from Lincoln High School. She is involved in several sports, including softball, baseketball and tennis and volunteers at Tabitha Health Care Center and coaches boys soccer through the YMCA.
Carrie Jeanne Susemihl, daughter of James & Ann Susemihl of Three Rivers, Michigan
Susemihl is a senior at Three Rivers High Scjool and will graduate in June 2003. She is a member of the Varisty Soccer Team and is on the school's Student Council. She is also an editor of the school newspaper and is a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist.
Shawna Troyer, daughter of Larry & Deb Troyer of Seward, Nebraska
Troyer is a senior at Seward High School and will graduate in May 2003. She has been involved in the Future Farmers of America, Key Club and Spanish Club. She is also a cheerleader and has worked as an Activity Aid at Sunrise Country Manor Retirement Home.
Kyle VanStrien, son of Dennis & Elaine VanStrien of Kalamazoo, Michigan
VanStrien will graduate in June 2003 from Kalamazoo Christian High School. He played freshman basketball and participated on the football team for four years. He is also active in choir and musicals in school and with his church. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has been a Young Life Bible study leader for three years.
Sean Wolterman, son of Larry & Dianne Wolterman of Lincoln, Nebraska
Wolterman is a senior at Lincoln High School and will graduate in June 2003. He is a member of the football team (named Academic All-Conference), track, the student council and the National Honor Society.
Duncan Aviation's scholarship program is open only to dependents of full-time Duncan Aviation employees.
Duncan Aviation is an aircraft service provider with 1,800 employees supporting the aviation needs of government and business operators and other service providers. These services include airframe, engine, component repair and overhaul, avionics installations, interior and paint completions/modifications and parts support.
