Duncan Aviation Announces Scholarship Winners

LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation is pleased to announce the names of 10 recipients of the 2005 Duncan Aviation Scholarship program. The recipients, who have at least one parent who is a full-time Duncan Aviation employee, will each receive $1,000 a semester for up to four years of continuous enrollment at an accredited two- or four-year college or post-secondary vocational school. The money may be applied toward tuition, fees, books, or room and board.
Recipients were chosen by an independent selection committee who reviewed their grade point averages, ACT scores, class ranking, citizenship, activities, leadership skills and career goals. The winners include the following:
- Ashley Bordovsky, daughter of Eric & the late Kathy Bordovsky, of Valparaiso, Nebraska
- Adam Cruickshank, son of Tim & Carol Cruickshank, of Lincoln, Nebraska
- Kristin Hilde, daughter of Gerald & Debra Hilde, of Lincoln, Nebraska
- Alicia House, daughter of Gerald and Nancy House, of Firth, Nebraska
- Alex Hubbard, son of Peter and Patti Hubbard, of Seward, Nebraska
Heather Koning, daughter of Jim and Mary Koning, of Kalamazoo, Michigan - Katie Masek, daughter of Mike and Paula Masek, of Valparaiso, Nebraska
- Natalie Petersen, daughter of Scott and Susan Samuelson, of Hickman, Nebraska
- Jessica Phillips, daughter of Dan and Kelly Phillips, of Lincoln, Nebraska
- Cody Stephenson, son of Rick and Lois Stephenson, of Lincoln, Nebraska
Bordovsky is a recent graduate of Raymond Central High School and plans to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University. Throughout high school, she was active in basketball, volleyball, student council and the National Honor Society. She was also involved in many church events.
Cruickshank attends Lincoln High School and will graduate in June 2005. He is a member of the football team, as well as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spirit Club, and Red Cross Club. He has been involved in several church activities, including a mission trip to Mexico.
Hilde attends Lincoln High School and will graduate in June 2005. In her high school career, she has participated in symphonic band, marching band, tennis and National Honor Society. She is a four year honor roll selection and she has volunteered at the YWCA.
House is a recent graduate of Norris High School. She plans on attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney and will study Biology. While in high school, she has been involved in marching band, Titan Singers, colorguard, and National Honor Society.
Hubbard attends Seward High School and will grauduate in May 2005. He has been active in soccer, cross country, Key Club, and National Honor Society. He has also been a classroom volunteer with elementary students.
Koning will graduate from Kalamazoo Christian High School in June 2005. Throughout high school, she has been involved in basketball, track, volleyball, band, and National Honor Society. She has also been active in several service projects and church activities.
Masek is a recent graduate of Raymond Central High School. Her future plans include studying radiology at Southeast Community College. While in high school, she participated in choir, student council, softball, cheerleading, and National Honor Society.
Petersen is a recent graduate of Norris High School. While in high school, she has been active in Titan Singers, Students Against Drugs and Alcohol, and church youth group. She has also been involved in 4-H activities.
Phillips attends Lincoln East High School and will graduate in June 2005. Throughout her high school career, she has been a member of the soccer and swim teams, as well as honor roll, National Honor Society, and athletic training. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Stephenson will graduate from Lincoln Northeast High School in June 2005. While at Northeast, he has been active in band, cross country, student council, and National Honor Society. He has also volunteered with the City Mission and as a blood donor.
Duncan Aviation's scholarship program is open only to dependents of full-time Duncan Aviation employees. Duncan Aviation is an aircraft service provider with 1,800 employees supporting the aviation needs of government and business operators and other service providers. These services include airframe, engine, avionics installations, interior and paint completions/modifications, avionics/instrument and accessory/propeller repair/overhaul and parts support. Complete service facilities are located in Lincoln, Neb., and Battle Creek, Mich. Additional locations include 21 satellite avionics facilities located throughout the United States, a line service/regional support operation in Kalamazoo, Mich., and Lincoln-based Parts Support Services, a division that sells and consigns general aviation parts to aircraft operators and service organizations worldwide.
