Duncan Aviation Certifies and Installs Universal EFI-890R in King Air 300
July 5, 2005
BATTLE CREEK, MICH. —Duncan Aviation's Glass Box Project recently completed certification of the Universal EFI-890R in a King Air 300. This is the latest in the expanding line of AMLCD (Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display) certifications from the Glass Box Project and its third EFI-890R retrofit installation including one in a Challenger 601-3A in August 2004 and one in a Challenger 600 in February 2005. The STC for this installation covers both the two-display and three-display systems in the King Air 300.
The aircraft was provisioned for Universal's Vision 1, which will provide a simulated 3D egocentric terrain view when certified. The Universal EFI-890R system displays critical flight information on three 8" x 9" AMLCDs. The Universal EFI-890R delivers primary flight information and additional features not available in older EFIS and electromechanical instruments. Systems like the EFI-890R increase the value of older aircraft, add safety and integrate the latest technology available in aircraft fresh off the assembly line. The EFI-890R is capable of displaying TAWS, TCAS, lightening system, weather and navigational information in addition to the technology required for CNS/ATM.
"We are excited to bring the Glass Box Project to the King Air market," says Kim Konopnicki, Duncan Aviation Salesperson. "The Universal EFI-890R is the very best choice for this aircraft, adding safety and state-of-the-art technology to the flightdeck. The owner of this aircraft is already experiencing increased operational capability and is very pleased with the investment."
