Limited services resume at Ft. Lauderdale satellite operation, recovery efforts hindered by service outages
November 1, 2005
Limited customer services have resumed and personnel are working to return life to normal this week at Duncan Aviation's Ft. Lauderdale satellite operation. But service outages are hindering the recovery process.
The Avionics shop, which sustained hangar damage during Hurricane Wilma last Monday, is "operating very sporadically," said Steve Klassen, Lincoln Satellite Network Manager. "DSL is down and they do have some dial-up availability, but their cell phones are sporadic."
The Rapid Response Team (RRT) office building sustained roof damage, and engine maintenance and repair services are taking on small jobs said Joe Stokey, Lincoln RRT Assistant Manager. Periodic inspections and LRU replacements are currently available to customers.
"We should be running at 100% by the end of the week," Stokey said.
While all personnel are accounted for and working to return life to normal, recovery efforts are hampered by the lack of electricity.
"No one can get any gas or groceries because the power is out," Stokey said.
Although some water and electricity has been re-established to the area, utilities may not return to normal for the next two weeks.
Customers in need of RRT services in the Ft. Lauderdale area are asked to contact:
