Duncan Aviation Releases Music CD Entitled "Chart-Topping Hits of 56" Featuring Performances by Duncan Aviation Team Members
November 4, 2005
LINCOLN, NEB. — As part of Duncan Aviation's 50th anniversary celebration, the company has released a collection of songs from 1956 performed by Duncan Aviation Team Members. Entitled "Chart-Topping Hits of '56,'" the release will be distributed to each of the company's employees and customers at industry trade shows and special celebration events at most of the company's U.S. locations. The project is a reflection of the unique corporate culture and creativity within Duncan Aviation.
In a company-wide email, employees were invited to submit an audio audition of themselves singing a song of their choosing (the audition was required to ensure the performances would match the quality expected from the industry-leading aircraft service company). The only guideline was that the song they chose must have appeared on the U.S. music charts in 1956. Once "approved," singers were matched with instrument-wielding Duncan Aviation team members/musicians to perform the song. The resulting collection is an eclectic mix that spans rock, country and reggae. Some recordings closely resemble the originals while others are mildly (or wildly) augmented arrangements of the classic tunes.
With employees in three time zones, the company met the logistics challenge with technology. Two studios in Nebraska and one in Michigan were used to record the raw performances and the tracks were mailed and emailed back and forth until the final rough conglomeration ended up in Lincoln, where it was mixed and mastered.
"Our company is loaded with talent that goes beyond aviation service, and when so many in our industry have grown up with these songs, it is a natural fit, says Robert Duncan, Chairman. "More that something fun to listen to, this project gives an unprecedented glimpse of the talent at Duncan Aviation and why the Duncan Aviation experience is so unique. Surviving 50 years in this industry is truly cause to celebrate, and we are proud that music created by our own team members will be the soundtrack for the year-long celebration."
"I am honored to be part of this project and a company that is willing to wave the green flag on a project like this," says Lee Bowes, Duncan Aviation Marketing Specialist, Special Event Coordinator and producer of the release. "The internal buzz about this project was almost deafening as almost everyone knew someone who performed on the record and couldn't wait to hear how they did. I am eager for the industry reaction to this unprecedented project."
