Industry First:Duncan Aviation Installs and Certifies AirCell Axxess System in a Falcon 2000
May 30, 2005
BATTLE CREEK, MICH. -Duncan Aviation, an authorized AirCell dealer, recently completed and certified the installation of the AirCell Axxess system in a Dassault Falcon 2000. The Duncan Aviation installations and engineering teams worked with AirCell to develop the STC for the first time installation of this all-new, multi-channel, wireless and broadband-ready satcom system.
This installation included the standard Axxess system which consists of two Iridium satellite communications channels for quality voice and narrowband data services as well as Axxess' standard, FAA-certified handsets with large, color displays and advanced noise cancelling technology and standard ear bud/headset jacks for clear, quiet calling. Additional Iridium channels can be added to suit the operator's needs.
This installation will allow for the future upgrades to the Axxess System that will include wireless and broadband capability. The system's Ethernet port will allow operators add an Inmarsat broadband connection on a plug-and-play basis. Axxess' wireless capabilities include a full 802.11b/g Wi-Fi "hotspot" which, when paired with a broadband connection, can be used to operate personal laptops, PDA's and other Wi-Fi devices in the cabin. Axxess' wireless features will become available pending FAA certification later this year.
"This revolutionary new technology, backed by AirCell quality and a competitive price make this system a very attractive one for our customers," said Dennis DeCook. "We expect to install many of these sytems in Falcon 2000 aircraft and wide range of business aircraft in 2006 and beyond."
