On Static Display at NBAA: Honeywell Primus EPIC® Control Display System/Retrofit Certified on Dassault Falcon 900B Aircraft
October 15, 2006
NBAA, ORLANDO, FL—Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that its Primus Epic Control Display System/Retrofit (CDS/RTM) has been certified for Dassault Falcon 900B aircraft.
Duncan Aviation, a full-line Honeywell dealer, performed the four-display CDS/R system installation and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) flight testing. This is Duncan Aviation's second CDS/R Phase III installation and certification this year. Duncan Aviation is highlighting the aircraft at its static booth (#36) at the National Business Aviation Association's annual convention in Orlando, FL.
The interface of the digital data of Epic with the existing digital architecture of the SPZ-8000/ASCB data bus in the Falcon 900B allows existing avionics equipment in the Falcon to remain. This system solution helps keep costs down while providing operators enhanced safety through increased situational awareness," said Scott Taylor, Vice President, Sales and Customer Marketing, Business & General Aviation. "It is also the platform for technology upgrades that will provide the pathway to meet future requirements such as Charts and Maps, Uplinked Weather, and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B)."
Beyond the operational benefits of the Honeywell Epic CDS/R, this investment is a solid business decision said Gary Harpster, Duncan Aviation Epic Sales Leader . Our research shows this technology will increase the value of the aircraft, as legacy systems struggle to meet the demand of today's flying requirements. The new large-format displays make available the same technology delivered on new aircraft, including electronic charts and maps, and up-linked graphical weather."
Duncan Aviation is a full aircraft service provider with operations in Lincoln, Neb., and Battle Creek, Mich.
Primus Epic CDS/R is an evolution of Honeywell's successful Primus 1000 and 2000 Integrated Avionics Systems. Epic CDS/R uses a new IAC-1080 integrated avionics computer for Electronic Flight Information System Display Processing and Nav Switching, all displayed on a DU-1080 large-format panel using Active-Matrix Liquid Crystal Display technology.
By taking advantage of the existing and successful Primus 1000/2000 architecture, and the new displays of today's Primus Epic system, Primus Epic CDS/R has the reliability of a mature system designed for growth as future requirements dictate.
Epic's flat-panel displays allow for advanced system integration resulting in reduction of weight, power consumption, and parts count. Each Primary Flight Display alone replaces up to ten conventional instruments, resulting in fewer units to maintain.
