Duncan Aviation Announces a Glass Box Project Solution for Falcon 2000, 2000EX and 50EX Flight Deck Upgrade with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21
October 15, 2006
LINCOLN, NEBR—Duncan Aviation's Glass Box Project continues to expand its reach announcing today a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 to Pro Line 21 upgrade for Falcon 2000, 2000EX and 50EX operators..
Duncan Aviation and Rockwell Collins will develop a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) that makes it possible to retrofit Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 CRT EFIS-equipped aircraft with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Flat-Panel LCD Displays. The installation will include dual Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS) that enables the operator to display electronic charts, real time broadcast graphic weather, enhanced maps and provide a growth path for future technologies.
This latest in a series of STC developments between Duncan Aviation and Rockwell Collins will focus on the Falcon 2000, 2000EX and 50EX business jet airframes. These aircraft were originally manufactured with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 CRT EFIS-display systems. There are more than 300 aircraft represented by these models, which are candidates for this new installation.
Introduced in 2004, Duncan Aviation's Glass Box Project is a focused effort to make available the latest in emerging flat-panel retrofit technology. Reduced downtimes, risk and investment are being delivered with thorough preplanning with customers, the FAA, avionics and airframe OEMs and Duncan Aviation's in-house engineering team. With 26 retrofits on six different platforms already completed and three more projects in work, Duncan Aviation is leading the AMLCD (Active Matrix, Liquid Crystal Display) avionics retrofit movement into multiple airframes with the systems from leading equipment manfacturers.
"There is a great deal of momentum in the market toward Glass Box retrofits. The benefits of increased safety, reduced pilot workload and increased aircraft value are really hitting home with pilots and owners," says Steve Elofson, Duncan Aviation Avionics Sales Manager. The new displays are capable of displaying all the established avionics imagery such as TCAS, TAWS, Radar and Navigation along with the new latest and greatest features like Jeppeson charts, Nexrad weather, infrared Enhanced Vision Systems and others, he explains.
"The relationship that we've formed with Duncan Aviation, combined with the proven capabilities of our Pro Line 21 solution, have delivered outstanding results for the avionics retrofit market in Falcon 50 aircraft," said Denny Helgeson, Vice President and General Manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. "We look forward to furthering our relationship with Duncan Aviation through the continued success of the Glass Box Project, now extending to Falcon 2000, 2000EX and 50EX operators."
