Duncan Aviation Named Channel Partner On Honeywell's NZ-2000 FMS Upgrade for the Falcon 900B
October 1, 2008
LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation, in partnership with Honeywell Aerospace, will be installing Honeywell’s NZ-2000 FMS 6.1 WAAS with LPV upgrade in Falcon 900B model aircraft. Available in the fourth quarter of 2008 for aircraft equipped with Honeywell NZ-2000 Flight Management Systems, this upgrade includes both hardware modifications and a software upgrade to version 6.1.
“The most exciting feature gained by this upgrade will be lower GPS approach minimums, typically 250 to 300 feet, into airports with LPV approaches,” explains Gary Harpster in Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln, Neb., Avionics Sales. “There are more than 1,300 WAAS LPV approaches in use today and the FAA is adding new approaches at a rate of 300 a year. LPV, which stands for Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance, will require dual WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation Systems).”
Duncan Aviation, which has extensive experience with Honeywell-equipped Falcon 900s and over the last two years has installed 10 Honeywell EPIC systems in Falcon 900 aircraft, will develop the NZ-2000 WAAS STC certification for the Falcon 900B aircraft. The company expects to have it completed in 2008.
To inform operators more about WAAS and LPV, Duncan Aviation experts have developed an informative booklet called Straight Talk About WAAS, which is available at the Duncan Aviation NBAA Booth (#5100) or online at www.DuncanAviation/straighttalk. NBAA attendees may also attend a Straight Talk update session that covers Satcom/HSD and WAAS/LPV on Monday, Oct. 6, from 10-11 a.m. in Room 310D of the South Hall.
