Facility Capabilities
Workscopes can often expand, sometimes beyond the capability of the host service center. This may paralyze a project and create challenges that the facility may have to outsource, increasing downtime and often costs.
Engineering / Technical
Many workscopes requires additional engineering or technical expertise. Any MRO that outsources for these services gives up some control over the planning process and puts one more step between you, the customer and the work. Not only will outsourcing these services add to your final bill, it could delay your project and add to your downtime because these resources are not in-house and available on short notice.
Special Tooling
Very expensive tooling is often required for even the most basic work performed on business aircraft. Additionally, many aircraft models require the use of special tooling during a maintenance event. Companies who have acquired service center authorizations through OEMs are required to invest in the appropriate tooling for those specific authorizations. Whether a company has that tooling and whether you will be charged extra for it could make a huge difference in the work performed on your aircraft and the cost.
Maintenance Tracking Research
Not sure if your aircraft is in compliance with all the latest ADs and SBs? If your chosen MRO doesn’t have Chapter Five and Chapter Four expertise and the ability to do comprehensive logbook researches to identify all the necessary inspections, then neither are they.
