LINCOLN, NEB — Customers asked and Duncan Aviation delivered.
Duncan Aviation’s two new 40,000-square-foot maintenance hangars in Lincoln, Nebraska, are officially up, running and full of large and long-range business jets.
“Our customers are flying larger aircraft, and to fit well in our facilities we needed more space,” says Airframe Services Manager Chad Doehring
Hangar G opened earlier this year and on Monday, May 12, Hangar H welcomed Bombardier Global and Challenger aircraft, as well as Dassault Falcon jets.
The expansion comes in response to customer requests and changing customer needs. As the industry continues to shift toward larger business aircraft, a trend fueled by technological advances and increased globalization, Duncan Aviation’s current hangars are unable to accommodate the volume of maintenance, modifications and completions work our customers require.
“We anticipated this trend, which is why we invested in the new paint facility two years ago. It was time to support the maintenance side, and we feel comfortable we can meet our customers’ needs with this new space,” says Chief Operating Officer Jeff Lake.
The 175,000-square-foot facility houses 95,000-square-feet of office and shop space in addition to 80,000-square-feet of maintenance hangar space.
The hangar’s structure shop and engine line shop have been in use for several months.
With an occupancy permit in hand last Friday, Duncan Aviation’s team filled the hangar immediately this Monday.
The $12 million investment boasts several green upgrades, including radiant floor heat, LED lighting and skylights.
“Things that are good for the environment are good for our employees, and that translates into an excellent experience for customers as well,” says Jeff.
