Some radar units we service require environmental testing and calibration at specific temperature and altitude points when certain conditions apply. For example, the ART-2000 and ART-2100 require environmental testing if the magnetron, logic board or receiver assembly is replaced.
Our years of component repair experience have taught us that unit reliability and performance is greatly improved when we run every unit through temperature and altitude tests. Even if they perform properly on the bench, some have been known to fail under the conditions mentioned above.
We do this as a standard testing procedure even though unit conditions may not require it. By catching functional issues while the unit is still in our shop, we save the operator both time and money.
