Hawker Flight Control cables are susceptible to corrosion due to their material, exposure, and lack of preventative maintenance. Chapter 20 of the AMM contains inspection criteria (20-10-31) and maintenance practices (20-10-32).
It is important to regularly inspect the cables in susceptible areas, detect and address minor corrosion, and properly apply protective finish as instructed in Chapter 20.
The aileron cables shown below were internally corroded also and required replacement. This additional cost might have been prevented/prolonged if regular inspection and early detection/preventative measures were taken.
