The Federal Aviation Administration issued AD (airworthiness directive) 2021-08-07 on April 7, 2021, that impacts aircraft with the Rockwell Collins GPS-4000S (P/N 822-2189-100) installed.
This AD was prompted by an un-annunciated GPS vertical error that could result in a hazardously misleading LPV glidepath. It is being issued to prevent a misleading GPS position on an LPV approach.
From the effective date of the AD, May 12, 2021, you have a 24-month window to comply by upgrading your GPS-4000S (P/N 822-2189-100) unit to -101 via an exchange or factory repair, both of which can be performed by all of Duncan Aviation’s Satellite facilities.
We encourage operators to be proactive in upgrading their units by not waiting.
“Two years may sound like a lot of time, but it really isn’t,” says Matt Nelson. “The longer an operator waits to upgrade, the more likely they will get caught up in the bottleneck when the demand for these units goes up and supply becomes scarce. We want to do everything we can to help and to be part of the solution.
Rockwell Collins will cover two hours of labor per unit and $100 freight.
