Work smarter not harder.
On the Falcon 50, 900 and 2000 model aircraft, task code 30-20-00-710-801 has you do any operational test of the engine inlet anti-icing system. Extreme caution is warranted to prevent an overheat condition and possible structural damage.
Using a handheld infrared (heat sensing) gun, pointed at the inlet, allows a quick determination of heat transfer allowing the operator to shut off the heat immediately after detection, thus eliminating any chance of an overheat condition.
It also keeps the ground technician from having to bring a ladder to touch the inlet post shutdown.
