Duncan Aviation officially celebrated the dedication of its newly expanded Turbine Engine Overhaul Shop at its Lincoln headquarters on Thursday, June 25. The company welcomed state and local dignitaries, airport officials, construction partners, OEM (original equipment manufacturer) representatives, customers, and team members to showcase the state-of-the-art facility, which represents a major long-term infrastructure investment designed to meet growing global demand.

The new 36,000-square-foot facility significantly expands Duncan Aviation’s turbine engine capabilities, building on its long-standing relationship with Pratt & Whitney. By leveraging its status as a DOF (Designated Overhaul Facility) for the PW300 and PW500 turbofan engines, the expansion positions Duncan Aviation to attract new international engine service business while providing faster, more cost-effective services to its customers.

The dedication began with a private morning VIP ceremony, followed by an exclusive tour led by members of the senior management team. Attendees were given a first look at the cutting-edge facility, advanced aviation technology, and streamlined workflows. The VIP tour also included a stop at Duncan Aviation’s Technical Education Center, where team members were participating in hands-on, on-the-job training required to earn an FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant certificate.

Throughout the afternoon, the celebration continued as all Duncan Aviation team members were invited to take a self-guided tour of the new space. Later in the day, engine OEM representatives from Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce, alongside customers, toured the shop before attending an evening dinner reception. In total, nearly 200 people walked through the facility, witnessing active maintenance and speaking directly with technicians about their work.

Scott Stoki, Duncan Aviation’s Vice President of Engine Operations, expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended the grand opening events. “It was wonderful to hear such positive feedback and enthusiasm from so many who toured the facility. This investment in our engine program ensures we will have the capacity to support our customers' needs for many years to come."

The newly expanded facility and upgraded backshops feature strategic investments in advanced machinery and infrastructure designed to enhance efficiency and safety, including:

  • Twelve Dedicated Maintenance Bays: Configured to handle a high volume of engine work simultaneously.
  • Expanded Backshops: Centrally located and upgraded with advanced tooling and machinery.
  • New Test Cell & Control Room: Provided by Atec, Inc., offering a quieter, more efficient, and state-of-the-art testing environment.
  • New Parts Inventory Warehouse: Optimized to streamline workflow and improve overall operational efficiency
  • Advanced Safety & Utility Infrastructure: Installation of 16 one- and two-ton overhead cranes for precise handling of large engine components; an upgraded utility infrastructure featuring a larger evaporator drain pit for chemical recycling; and a 12,000-gallon fuel tank with a backup system to ensure continuous test cell operations
  • Modern Amenities: New offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, and locker rooms to support both customers and team members

During the tours, OEM representatives also visited DMS (Duncan Manufacturing Solutions), Duncan Aviation’s dedicated manufacturing division. DMS directly supports the engine program through a specialized team that performs service bulletins, complex repairs, and comprehensive parts support, further solidifying Duncan Aviation's robust in-house capabilities.
