LINCOLN, NEB. — Duncan Aviation has recently named Marko Camargo the new Manager of the company’s Satellite in Scottsdale, Arizona. A highly motivated self-starter with a passion for hands-on work, Camargo brings more than five years of experience at Duncan Aviation’s Scottsdale Satellite to his new leadership role.
Aviation runs deep in Camargo’s family. With a great-grandfather who was a decorated General in the Mexican Air Force and numerous relatives working in aviation, Camargo initially dreamed of becoming a pilot. After a few flying lessons, however, he realized that being in the flight deck didn’t satisfy his desire to work with his hands.
He earned his Airframe license from Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Mesa, Arizona, then pivoted to avionics, spending several years working on helicopters before applying to Duncan Aviation.
“I’d worked in the military world on avionics and sheet metal at MD Helicopters,” said Camargo. “When I started seeing openings at Duncan Aviation in Scottsdale, I was intrigued. I applied, and the former manager here took a chance on me.”
In addition to his technical skills, Camargo enjoys connecting with people—an important strength when working with customers.
“I really like people, and Duncan Aviation’s culture emphasizes a family feel while encouraging strong personal relationships with customers and teammates,” he said. “I like understanding what customers are looking for and, beyond the business, building genuine connections.”
Camargo is also known for his relentless pursuit of answers. As a technician, he was never satisfied until he fully understood a problem and how to fix it. He credits Duncan Aviation’s size and support network for helping him—and the Scottsdale team—deliver exceptional service.
“It’s a decent-sized company with a family feel,” said Camargo. “Expert guidance is never more than a phone call away. If we encounter a challenge locally, I can lean on a network of Satellite Managers, technicians, and the expert teams at Duncan Aviation’s three main facilities.”
Looking ahead, Camargo’s long-term goal is to expand the Scottsdale team to include a sheet metal specialist, enabling the Satellite to install connectivity systems in-house. In the meantime, Camargo and his five technicians remain committed to upholding Duncan Aviation’s culture and delivering the high-quality service customers expect—whether for air data checks, satcom troubleshooting, or other specialized services.
Camargo also noted the continued growth in Duncan Aviation’s dedicated battery shop at the Scottsdale Airport.
“We currently have a full-time technician there, and another is completing training at our Lincoln battery shop,” he said. “Soon, we’ll have two certified technicians available to inspect, repair, recharge, and service a wide range of batteries.”
Outside of work, Camargo stays busy with his wife, Sonia, and their two young sons, Luca (5) and Marcel (1). He enjoys modifying and tinkering with projects—most recently upgrading his older son’s Power Wheels to go twice as fast and custom-painting it with a Jurassic Park theme. In his downtime, Camargo plays drums, enjoys flight simulator, and prioritizes date nights with his wife.
“The biggest message I want to share with our customers and team members is that my door is always open,” said Camargo. “I’m here to support them, and I look forward to meeting more of our customers in person in the coming months.”
Manager of Satellite Operations Matt Nelson is pleased that Camargo has accepted the role and is confident in his abilities. "We are excited for Marko to join our outstanding leadership team in the Duncan Aviation Satellite Network and will enjoy watching the Scottsdale facility continue to provide our customers with excellent service."
