If you are purchasing or selling an aircraft with a 406 MHz ELT, do not forget to ensure the ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) registration information is updated and correct.

The owner’s responsibility is to notify NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in writing about any change of the aircraft’s or ELT ownership or any other change in the registration information. This information provides SAR (Search And Rescue) authorities crucial information about the ELT owner and the aircraft it is installed on if the need arises.
