Some owners and operators flying with Honeywell ED-800 CRT-based displays are looking to replace the units. The Duncan Aviation Denver Satellite facility worked with Peregrine, Esterline CMC Electronics, and DAC International to develop a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for a replacement unit: the Esterline CMA-6800 LCD.
This plug & play, form-fit replacement unit requires no tray, connector, or wiring changes, so owner/operators are looking at a 24-hour turntime. Additionally, the CMA-6800 is designed so the units can be replaced one at a time, as opposed to replacing all four or five at once. The unit is also transparent enough through the use of existing symbol generators that aircrews won’t need retraining to use the equipment.
This STC (#ST00813DE) is an Approved Model List (AML) that includes Hawker 800/800XP/1000, Bombardier’s Challenger CL-601/601-3A/3R, Dash 8–100/200/300 and its 415 Superscooper, Cessna Citation 650, Dassault Falcon 900, Fokker 50, and the Gulfstream III, with additional models to follow.
Duncan Aviation has special pricing on the units and installation through June 2016 at all avionics satellite locations and at the Battle Creek, Michigan; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Provo, Utah facilities.
